From c. 1770 it became fashionable to cover the walls of rooms with painted wall hangings. With their idyllic scenes, they could transform a canal house room into an oasis. These three paintings (together with some missing ones) presented a continuous Dutch landscape, interrupted only by the room’s panelling, windows and doors. They were made for a room in the house at 22 Nieuwe Doelenstraat, Amsterdam. (Bron: Rijksmuseum)

With this unique painting by Jurriaan Andriessen from c. 1776 on photo wallpaper you can give a room that finishing touch!

About Jurriaan Andriessen
Jurriaen Andriessen, born at Amsterdam on 12 July 1742, was a scholar of A. Elliger, and J. M. Quinkhardt. He was an able artist in decorative painting; the decorations of the new theatre at Amsterdam were executed by him and Numan. His daughter later married the actor Coenraad van Hulst. Several distinguished modern Dutch painters are from his school. His pupils were besides his brother Anthonie and son Christiaan, the following artists:Pieter Godfried Bertichen, Jan Bulthuis, Floris Croese, Chrétien Dubois, Daniël Dupré, Arend Johan van Glinstra, Jean Grandjean, Cornelia Aletta van Hulst, Jacques Kuyper, Gerrit Jan Michaëlis, Hermanus Numan, Abraham Johannes Ruytenschildt, Jacobus Schoemaker Doyer, Wouter Johannes van Troostwijk, Izaak Vaarzon Morel, Hendrik Voogd, Gerardus Wieringa, and Johannes Ziesenis. He died at Amsterdam on 31 July 1819. (Bron: Wikipedia)

Rijksmuseum Collection!
In our Rijksmuseum Collection we offer an unique art collection on photo wallpaper taken from the collection of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. We will keep adding items to this collection so be sure to visit our website again.

Paper
The photo is printed on non-woven wallpaper (120gsm). Non-woven wallpaper is strong, tear-resistant and can be lightly washed with a soft rag. The strips of the wallpaper are 47.5 cm wide and are therefore much easier to hang than the much wider strips that are regularly offered online.

Hanging wallpaper
You do not need a wallpaper table because the adhesive can be spread on the wall. Non-woven wallpaper does not shrink – by hanging the strips adjacent to each other, a magnificent image is created on your wall. You can include wallpaper adhesive in your order. For best results be sure to order our wallpaper glue at checkout.
